The School of Natural Resources (formerly School of Forestry and Wood Science) started operating in 1995 as the fourth School of the Copperbelt University to offer degree programmes in Forestry, Wood Science and Technology, Wildlife Management and Aquaculture and Fisheries Management.

A general deficit of professionally trained human resource in the sustainable management of natural resources exists in Zambia and elsewhere in Africa. These resources include forests and forest related resources; Wildlife and Fisheries resources. The School of Natural Resources has been set up to address itself to this problem by training and producing adequately equipped professionals in forestry, agroforestry, wood science and technology, wildlife management and fisheries management.

Besides teaching, the other objectives of the School of Natural Resources are to carryout research; extension and consultancy work in forestry, wood science and technology, wildlife and fisheries. Also to provide community services related to the disciplines and stated objectives of the school.

Currently looking for partnerships for research, staff development and curriculum development in Forestry, Agroforestry, Fisheries, Tourism and Rural development.
