The University of El Imam El Mahdi is a public university in central Sudan. It hosts 6 faculties, Medicine and health sciences ( Medicine, Lab, Public Health, Nursing), Engineering and technical studies (Mechanical, Chemical, Food technology engineering), Arts, Law and Economics and business administration. We have also a computer center, training center, a faculty for human resource development and a college for women development. The university has post graduate studies for master degrees in Arts, law and Biochemistry. We have research in medical sciences, tropical diseases, sickle cell anaemia and diabetes. we have rudementary research in sugar engineering. We are willing to have partners in these areas and more in the other specialities. the student number is 6000 male:female is 1:1. teaching staff 200 with one third bearing PhD degrees and about a half having masters or preparing their PhDs. We have a gender sensitive institution and the second in the country with a gender representative. the other university is Ahfad university for women! we have have strong ties with them because of our gender sensitivity. Recently we published an article on the role of the students in peace building process in the Sudan. So our university is open for partnerships in science and issues of gender and peace.
